Oral arguments were heard before Judge Tunheim at the U.S. District Courthouse in Mpls. MN on December 21, 2006 in the case of the Izaak Walton League, Sierra Club, Northeastern MN for Wilderness and other preservation groups vs. USFS concerning a proposed snowmobile trail outside of the Boundary Waters. Still no permits for the Chain of Lakes

There still hasn’t been any resolution to mismanaged day use motor quota system for the affected BWCA Chain of Lakes. Recent contact with U.S. Forest Service Supervisor Jim Sanders asking for a meeting date to recalculate the permit quota didn’t result in a quick answer. [more...]
